The Light is Near

[expand title="Devotion Text"] Job 17:11-12 My days have passed, my plans are shattered. Yet the desires of my heart turn night into day; in the face of the darkness light is near. News flash! Not all of our plans work out. Things that we don’t want to happen, do. Things that we do want to happen, don’t. Stuff comes unexpectedly into our lives. The expected things never seem to show up on time. Like Job, our days pass by; our plans and dreams are shattered. Job experienced the worst of life in spades. Everything he owned - gone. His children - dead. His health - wiped out. Job’s name is synonymous with suffering. Yet in the midst of his darkest night, Job never gave up hope. Sitting in the shreds of shattered dreams, the desires of Job’s heart kept him going. Sitting in loneliness and pain, he knew that light was near. Have your dreams been shattered? Don’t give up hope. Keep the desires of your heart ignited. Don’t let shattered plans become abandoned plans. It’s the desire to keep pushing forward, to keep hoping, to keep trusting that turns night into day and reminds us that light is near. The light is near . . . hang on! Father, there is someone reading this who is about to give up. By Your spirit, infuse hope into the realms where hopelessness lives. For those living in darkness, remind them that the light is near. In Jesus name. Amen. [/expand]
