What We Believe

Who We Are

As a nonprofit ministry, Living Grounded exists to promote biblical truth and help people deepen their faith through Scripture-based resources, teaching, and encouragement. We encourage spiritual formation, biblical literacy, and life transformation by equipping individuals to live grounded in God’s Word.

Our mission is to help people understand who they are in Christ and pass this truth on to future generations.

Understanding who you are in Christ comes from a combination of

  • Theology (who God is)
  • Spiritual Identity (who we are to him)
  • Devotion (how we respond to his love)

Our Commitment to Scripture

Our beliefs are rooted exclusively in Scripture. We have nothing of value to say apart from the Word of God. We believe the Bible is complete, authoritative, and true for all people in every time and place.

The Bible

We believe that all Scripture is inspired by God[1]—every word (verbal inspiration) in its entirety (plenary inspiration) is without error in the original manuscripts (inerrant). The Bible is God’s authoritative Word[2], the final standard for every generation and for every life[3].

God

We believe in one God[4], the creator[5] and sustainer of all things[6], who exists eternally in three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit[7]. He is perfectly loving[8] and perfectly just[9] in all his ways.

Humanity

We believe that humanity was created in the image of God[10] but, through Adam’s disobedience, all are born into sin[11] and face separation from God[12].

Jesus Christ

We believe the Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God[13], who became fully human without ceasing to be God[14]. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary[15].

He revealed God to us and redeemed sinful humanity through his death on the cross as our perfect, substitutionary sacrifice[16]. Salvation is available to all through him[17]. His literal, bodily resurrection[18] guarantees our redemption and salvation[19].

He is now exalted at God’s right hand[20] and serves as our High Priest, interceding and advocating for his people[21].

The Holy Spirit

We believe that God the Holy Spirit unites believers to Christ at the moment of salvation[22] and permanently indwells them[23]. He glorifies Christ[24], empowers believers for godly living[25], and guides them into truth[26].

We believe the Spirit equips every believer for service[27]. Certain miraculous “sign gifts” confirmed the Gospel message in the early church. With the completion of Scripture, these particular gifts are no longer normative for the church today.

Salvation

We believe that salvation is God’s gift of grace[28], received through personal faith in Jesus Christ and his sacrifice for sin[29]. We are justified by grace through faith apart from works[30].

Believers are secure in Christ forever[31], though sin may disrupt fellowship with God[32] and bring his loving discipline[33].

The Return of Christ

We believe in the personal, imminent return of the Lord Jesus Christ for his people[34] and his future reign on earth[35].

Those who trust in Christ will enjoy eternal life in his presence[36]. Those who reject the Gospel will face conscious, eternal separation from God[37].

The Christian Life

We believe that believers are called to live under the Great Commission[38], bearing witness to Jesus Christ and making disciples locally and globally.

We grow in Christ through his Word[39], by faith[40], through the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit[41], in fellowship with other believers[42], and by using our gifts to serve God[43].
