Revelation
Revelation: Economic Collapse
In chapter 18 of Revelation, the world’s economic systems, fueled by evil powers and authorities, are being destroyed. In chapter 17, the world’s religious systems fell. Today, we witness the collapse of the world’s economic engines.
Revelation: The Fall of Religion
In Revelation 16, John highlights the end of the tribulation when the voice from the throne declares, “It is done!” (Rev. 16:17). Then, in chapters 17 and 18, John goes back to explain some of the events leading up to the end. These chapters have various interpretations. One of my favorite commentators mentioned consulting three of his favorites, each with a different view! Therefore, our main focus will be on the key lessons to learn from this section.
Revelation: It is Done!
The judgments of the tribulation period detailed in Revelation started with the seven seals, then the seven trumpets, and now conclude with the seven bowls of God’s wrath. Life as we know it is coming to an end. We have examined the first five bowls of judgment. Today, we will look at the last two bowl judgments that initiate the battle of Armageddon.
Revelation: Final Justice
As Revelation 16 opens, John hears a loud voice “from the temple telling the seven angels, ‘Go and pour out on the earth the seven bowls of the wrath of God’” (Rev. 16:1). Let’s start by examining the first five bowls of wrath.
Revelation: The Song of Victory
In today’s passage, Revelation 15, we get another glimpse of God’s majesty in a song sung by those he has protected during the tribulation. The sign John saw when he looked into heaven was “great and amazing, seven angels with seven plagues, which are the last, for with them the wrath of God is finished” (Rev. 15:1). The tribulation is meant for judgment and warning. Some will heed the warnings and turn to Jesus.
Revelation: When the Harvest Comes
No matter how you interpret Revelation, we can all agree on these two points. First, “In the end, we win!” That’s eternally great news to share with family and friends. The study of Revelation should inspire us with a renewed passion to tell others about Jesus.
Revelation: Invitation. Warning. Consequences.
Today’s passage lays out two truths that every viewpoint agrees on: The Revelation of Jesus Christ gives us a clear invitation to trust in him and warns of impending judgment if we don’t.
