Joining God’s Work

Job 22:1-3
Then Eliphaz the Temanite replied: "Can a man be of benefit to God? Can even a wise person benefit him? What pleasure would it give the Almighty if you were righteous? What would he gain if your ways were blameless?”
“Can a man be of benefit to God?” That’s a great question, isn’t it? God is the Creator of all things. He is sovereign over all. How can man possibly be of help to God? Let me offer some thoughts.
- Although God can do anything He wants to do, anytime He wants to do it, normally He chooses to work through men and women. He created Adam and Eve to populate the earth. He charged Noah to build the ark. He called Moses to lead Israel out of slavery and Joshua to take them into the Promised Land. He commissioned the disciples to take the Gospel to the ends of the earth.
- Although God can do anything He wants to do, anytime He wants to do it, He has chosen to bring praise to Himself through men and women. He tells us that we should demonstrate His work in us in such a way that others will see our good works and give Him the honor He deserves.
- Although God can do anything He wants to do, anytime He wants to do it, He has commanded you and me to share the Gospel. We are to be prepared to explain what it means to trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
