Below are some reflective questions. I encourage you to prayerfully read through each one and choose the one or two you want to focus on.
- PRAY: Ask God to open your heart so you can hear him speak to you about the issue.
- RESPOND: Confession. Repentance. Surrender. Thanksgiving.
- ACT: Take the steps to do what God is calling you to do.
Following the REFLECTIVE QUESTIONS are several passages that remind us of God’s constant presence.
REFLECTIVE QUESTIONS
- What “Egypt” has God delivered me from that I need to remember with gratitude?
- What might God be developing in me before the next battle?
- Do I trust God’s plan even when I don’t understand it?
- How would my decisions change if I consciously recognized that God is guiding me?
- During moments of fear, what practical steps help me “stand firm” and trust that the Lord will fight for me?
- Am I trying to store up tomorrow’s manna today? In what area is God inviting me to trust him daily instead of trying to control future outcomes?
- Where in my life right now do I feel weary in the battle, and who should I ask to help “hold up my arms”?
- Am I intentionally helping someone else in their spiritual battle, or have I fallen into isolation?
GOD’S CONSTANT PRESENCE
“Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the LORD your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you” (Deut. 31:6).
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go” (Josh. 1:9).
“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me” (Ps. 23:4).
“Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! … even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me” (Ps. 139:7-10).
“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” (Is. 41:10).
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you” (Is. 43:2).
“And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matt. 28:20).
“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth… for he dwells with you and will be in you” (John 14:16-17).
“Yet he is actually not far from each one of us, for ‘In him we live and move and have our being’” (Acts 17:27-28).
“‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’” So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?” (Heb. 13:5-6).
