This week, we discussed the deeper meaning of worship. It is more than an event; it is a way of life. We considered what worship is (Enoch and Noah) and what it is not (Lamech). We saw that God can be trusted to save and protect us and that he desires us to depend on him for significance and meaning.
Please use the following questions to reflect on what we learned this week.
REFLECTIVE QUESTIONS
- How does understanding worship as “calling on the name of the LORD” reshape your thinking about worship beyond music or church services?
- In your attitudes, words, and decisions, do you more closely resemble Lamech’s self-focused confidence or Enoch’s dependence on God?
- What daily practices help you intentionally “walk with God”?
- What areas of your life require obedience even when God’s commands seem difficult or countercultural?
- If Christ returned today, would you be found “in the ark”—secure in him—or merely aware of the warning?
- How do you respond after experiencing God’s deliverance or provision? Like Noah, do you worship as your first response?
- When you see a rainbow, do you merely think of God’s promise to never flood the earth again, or does it also remind you of the coming renewal God has promised through Christ?
- In what ways do you see the same Babel-like desire in your life—to build security, identity, or significance apart from God?
- How might God’s interruptions or disruptions in your life be acts of mercy, redirecting you from pride to dependence on him?
- How does the unity we have in Jesus challenge the way you view people from different backgrounds, cultures, or languages within God’s family?
