Vision

One of life’s biggest dangers is the trap of the temporal. One writer notes that our “deepest devotions simply leak out of our bodies by how we spend our time and what makes us smile and what claims our energy.” Most of our time and energy is spent on the things we will retire from and leave behind. When we are caught in the trap of the temporal, we burn out or wash out. But…there is a remedy.

In today’s passage, God goes big to explain the vision of marriage. The full vision has too often been shrunk to focus on the happiness and satisfaction of a husband and wife. Certainly, happiness and satisfaction are desired outcomes, but marriage is bigger than you and your happiness. Marriage is about God.

Leaders should inspire and encourage us about a better tomorrow. They must provide vision and hope—confidence in where we are heading. “The future doesn’t belong to the fainthearted. It belongs to the brave,” said Ronald Reagan running for president during a time of national malaise.

While you may not have received the vision from God that Ezekiel did, many of you reading this are watchmen.
