In today’s passage, Jesus puts marriage on the divine level. He looks each husband and wife in the eyes and says, “God has joined you together. Don’t mess it up” (My paraphrase). Marriage is not about a man and woman going through a ceremony, moving into a home with a white picket fence, and having a family.

How can we make our families strong—bulletproof—against the constant attacks from our culture? Well, for starters, strong families always start with strong marriages. So, let’s begin at the beginning. This passage in Genesis is repeated by Jesus in the Gospels and Paul in his letter to the Ephesians.

Jesus is the Creator and ruler over God’s creation. In Jesus, all things hold together. He is supreme over everything.

He is the cornerstone joining the walls and making the building strong. All peoples come together in Christ and grow “into a holy temple in the Lord.”

Faith is made up of things that don’t always fit together. If it’s all packaged up nice and tight…it’s not faith…it’s a fact.

The marriage covenant must be guarded and kept.

Let’s pray that God will grant them his success!

There are always consequences for disobedience. Consequences will show up . . . sooner or later.

Can God be trusted? Yes! Can you trust God? That’s the question that needs to be answered.
