Tears
Standing Firm in Unshakable Faith: Blessed Be the Name of the Lord
Standing by the freshly dug grave, I watched as a heavy-hearted couple made their way up the steep hill. The father served as the lone pallbearer. Only one person was needed to carry the small casket holding the body of his infant son. He placed the casket on the nylon straps that would lower it into the grave. What do you say to parents who have lost a child? I remember only hugs and tears as we waited for the rest of the family to gather on the windy hillside.
Promises: He Alone is Worthy of Praise
Thanks for joining us for Promises in the Psalms—a devo series right from the Old Testament book of worship. We have learned that God is our helper and healer. He is always present with us and meets us wherever we are. He is right there when our hearts are broken. He tends to our deepest wounds. He is our great God! That’s why we praise him through our joy and our tears.
Disappointment. Anger. Confusion.
Hurt. Disappointment. Anger. Confusion. Fear. Mary was probably feeling all those emotions following the death of her brother Lazarus. She made her way to Jesus, fell at his feet, and let him know exactly what was on her mind. “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died” (John 11:32). Those words were spoken with tears running down her cheeks and between the loud sobs of grief.
ENGAGE: Real Talk
Prayer is simply talking with God. A conversation with the Creator. Who better to learn from than Jesus?
The Great Hope
I will share in his glory forever. Be encouraged! The best is yet to come.
The Song of the Lamb
He is the omnipotent Creator who comes to meet us right where we are.
