When the angel Gabriel came to Mary, she was greatly troubled. Imagine her shock and dismay as the angel suddenly appeared and said, “Greetings, O favored one, the Lord is with you!” (Luke 1:28). Mary’s fear was visibly evident as Gabriel continued,

The first name that God used to describe himself in Scripture is the Hebrew word, Elohim. This name means “Mighty Creator” and appears over 2,500 times in the Bible. It describes God’s power, sovereignty, and authority over all things.

How is a believer supposed to respond to the government? Peter gives us very straightforward instructions.

God’s sovereignty is the basis for faith. He not only works out everything for his own ends, but he promises to work them out for our good (Romans 8:28). Thank God for his sovereignty. Without it, our faith is baseless.
