Servant

The systems of the world are built around power and control. Nations go to war to gain land, resources, and domination. Organizations intimidate opponents to manipulate and wield their authority. Individuals demonstrate their influence over others to show who’s the boss. Jesus, however, turned the tables.

Your fiancé is pregnant, and you are not the father. One can only imagine the painful emotions one feels upon hearing that news. But this pregnancy was different. It took an angel and a vision to explain the unexplainable!

Jesus followed the Father’s will all the way to the cross. There, on the cross, he died for your sins and mine. God’s servant served us by paying the penalty of our sin.

Everyone who truly wants to follow hard after Jesus must come to a place of surrender.

Peace with God was delivered by Jesus’ ultimate sacrifice on the cross.

What turned the crowd against Jesus? They didn’t get what they wanted. They desired a powerful king to deliver them from the rule of Rome. Jesus came as a servant to deliver them from the rule of sin.

Many people believe that they can draw up the terms of their relationship with Jesus. But that’s not how it works. Everyone who truly wants to follow hard after Jesus must come to a place of surrender.

Jesus did not respond because He was not a victim to a trial; He was a servant following the Father’s plan. The Sinless One gave no defense of His innocence. The time had come for the cross. Jesus was about His Father’s business.
