Light in the Darkness: The Magi
On the Christmas cards, it’s all picture-perfect. With a star illuminating the manger, three wise men, with their camels parked outside, bow down before the baby Jesus. And, of course, at the bottom of the card are the Hallmark words—Wise men still seek him today. But…let’s see what Scripture says about these visitors.
ENGAGE: First Things First
How do you make sure your priorities are straight? How do you put first things first? How do you know for sure that you are not chasing the wrong things? In today’s passage, Jesus answers those questions.
Jesus the Savior
Jesus voluntarily went to the cross to die for your sins, to pay sin’s penalty as your substitute. He provided the way—the only way—to have an eternal relationship with God. Jesus is, indeed, “the Lord saves.”
Ask. Seek. Knock.
Seek those things that honor him. Stay on the path of obedience, then you will receive the great blessings God has for you.
First Things First
When we seek first things first, God promises to take care of the rest.
Holding Others Up
Ask God to give you the humility to seek help. Don’t let your pride get in the way.
The Same Mercy
Find the doubters. Seek out those wavering. Discover those who are confused. Show them the truth with the same mercy Jesus showed to you.
Full Forgiveness
Why do I so often forget that Jesus “came to seek and to save what was lost?” Zacchaeus reminds me to turn my judgment to prayer.
