Protection
Promises: Today’s Work. Tomorrow’s Trust.
Reflect on your life. Think about the ways God has worked. Contemplate God’s protection and guidance. Sometimes he has protected you from others; sometimes he protected you from yourself. He is…and always will be…your refuge.
Wandering Sheep
A wandering sheep is a meal ready to be eaten. Separated from the flock, a straying sheep is vulnerable to the attack of wild animals. They also risk falling, rolling over on their backs, and as a result, incapable of getting up. Straying sheep are in danger of getting lost and staying lost until they meet their demise. Apart from Jesus, we are all “straying like sheep”—lost in sin, vulnerable to the Enemy, and caught in spiritual darkness. But that all changes with Jesus!
PRAYER: Talking to my Father
One of the things we need to talk to our Father about is spiritual protection. We have an enemy who is out to get us.
Road Rules: Refuge
But when our strong confidence is in God, our children also see that and trust in him. God will be a spiritual shelter and protection for them, just as he has been for us.
Shepherd and Overseer of Our Souls
Our Shepherd gives us everything we need. Protection. Nourishment. Safety. And when we go astray, he comes to find us. He is our Overseer all the way home.
God of the Whole Earth
He is everywhere at the same time in his whole being. We cannot escape his power, presence, or protection.
The Lord is My Shepherd
Jesus — the Good Shepherd — laid down his life for you. He loves you with eternal love.
The Lord is My Rock
Do you need protection from an enemy that continues to pursue? Do you need shelter from a storm that is pelting you with anxiety and fear? God is Yahweh Tsuri—The Lord my Rock. You can find all you need in him.
Learning to Pray
We need God’s strength, power, and protection. We need him to deliver us.
