Begin the Journey
How about you? Are you willing to step out on faith even when you’re not sure where the journey may take you? Are you willing to obey even when it doesn’t add up on your spreadsheet?
The Shadow of Death
Death followed Jesus throughout his life. From the moment of his birth, those in authority were trying to kill him. And finally, they did. But not as a helpless victim; Jesus voluntarily gave himself up for us on the cross. He died in my place. He died so that I could live. Have you surrendered to the King? Or, like Herod, are you still trying to keep him out of your life?
Advent: Preparing for Jesus - The Lord Saves
We all need a Savior to save us from the sins that separate us from God. That’s the eternal salvation that Jesus came to give us! Once our eternal salvation is in place, we can trust Him for the other issues. But we must start with first things first.
Barabbas
What an amazing scenario! The people chose to have a dangerous man back on the streets rather than have Jesus live. The innocent would die. The guilty went free. The same applies today. The spotless Lamb of God bore our sin in His body on the cross. He died in our place so we could be free forever.
Victim or Volunteer?
Jesus was not a victim. He did not find Himself at the wrong place at the wrong time. He was not a casualty at the hands of the religious leaders or Roman authorities. Jesus went to the cross on His own accord and for a purpose. The penalty of sin is death. Jesus took this punishment on our behalf. He bore our sins in His body on the cross. He died so we could live.
Coming Back Home
Have you walked away from God? Have you betrayed the Lord? Have you turned your back on Jesus? Stop running. Don’t place your life in your own hands. Come to Jesus…and find the life you’ve always longed for.
With You and In You
When God the Son took on flesh, He accepted the limitations that came with a human body. He could be in only one place at a time, but God the Spirit has no such limitations. Jesus said, “He lives with you and will be in you.” As believers, we can live with confidence that God, through His Holy Spirit, will always be present with us.
