Waiting
Think about it! Disease that wracks the body—healed! Broken hearts from broken relationships—over! Wayward children—home! Stricken with grief—comforted! Addictions—overcome! Years of separation—united! Disappointment—elation!
Time that is Past
Peter’s list of vices is a repulsive reminder of our lives apart from Christ. The sins noted above were not occasional places we visited. We were “living in” them. These offenses characterized our lives and defined who we were. But now things are different. We spent enough time in the past living like pagans chasing after human desires. Now it’s time to follow hard after Christ.
Road Rules: Living in Freedom
When we trust in Jesus, the old is gone; the new has come. We are forgiven of our past and adopted into the eternal King’s family. The Holy Spirit empowers us to live a life of obedience. Our position in Christ gives us significance, security, and acceptance. We do not have to follow the instincts of our old lives.
The True Vine
This question must be honestly answered by every person who professes to have a relationship with Jesus: Is there evidence of spiritual life?
He is Risen Indeed!
Have you seen the risen Savior in your darkened world? He is there! Follow him in the resurrection of new life!
In Jesus’ Name
We have access to God only through the Person and Work of Jesus (Eph. 2:18).
