Names of God: King
The Israelites believed that Yahweh was their king-–in Hebrew, Melek. He was the ultimate authority over Israel and every nation on earth. He reigned in power and majesty. They believed the temple in Jerusalem was the earthly symbol of God’s heavenly throne. God was their Melek; they were his servants.

God is not only our King; he alone is supreme, the “blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords.”
Prophet
Jesus is the Prophet. We are called to read his Word, listen to what he says, and do what he tells us to do.
Christ
Jesus came to deliver people from their sins. He is the Messiah, the Christ, the Anointed One.
King of Israel
