Ecclesiastes: Wisdom and Death
Every day is someone’s last day. But for those who know Jesus as my dad did, our final day on earth becomes our first day in heaven. When believers are absent from the body, they are present with the Lord. So, here is the one question on life’s exam you must know the answer to. When your body is in a box under the sun, where will your soul be?
Ecclesiastes: God's Judgment
What we do today matters for tomorrow. Our actions are not insignificant in the eyes of God. He will finally evaluate every word, thought, and deed. This will take place at two judgments—the Great White Throne judgment (for unbelievers) and the Judgment Seat of Christ (for believers). The final judgments are unavoidable. We will all give an account.
Ecclesiastes: Wisdom
Wisdom is an excellent tool for human progress but not the answer to the human problem. Sin has separated us from God and left a significant hole in our inner being. Wisdom allows us to live longer and more comfortably but cannot fill the God-shaped void deep within.
Road Rules: The Hope of Joy
People can place their hope in a lot of things. But when hopes are attached to the wrong things, our expectations perish. Not so with God-given hope of joy. Based on the finished work of Christ, it will carry us into eternity. When the hope of Jesus is in us, our joy is complete! (John 15:11 NIV)
Road Rules: Living in Freedom
When we trust in Jesus, the old is gone; the new has come. We are forgiven of our past and adopted into the eternal King’s family. The Holy Spirit empowers us to live a life of obedience. Our position in Christ gives us significance, security, and acceptance. We do not have to follow the instincts of our old lives.
Clarity
Thankfully Jesus is very clear about who he is, who we are, what we need to do to have a relationship with him, and where we will spend eternity based on that decision.
Our Part
Following Jesus is not a spectator sport. Look around you. And get involved in the work of the Lord in the lives of others.
But, Lord
Jesus does amazing things. Trust him, and he will turn things that stinketh into things that shine for his glory.
Our High Priest
I don’t know what you are going through today, but Jesus does. He knows and understands. He loves you and can meet your deepest need.
