Disease
Names of God: Physician
Have you been to a doctor’s office lately? It is not filled with people who are well. The healthy have no need for corrective lenses, antibiotics, heart medication, cancer treatments, hearing aids, or surgery. As Jesus said, “Those who are well have no need of a physician.” But when vision becomes blurry, the infection won’t go away, chest pains come, and concerning symptoms occur, you head to a doctor right away.
Light in the Darkness: The Great Physician
Have you read your newsfeed today? Truth has stumbled in the public square again. Right is called wrong, and wrong is called right. We live in a crazy, confused, dark world. Know why? The world is populated by desperately sick people. That’s why Jesus came.
Light in the Darkness: Light of Men
Today, we live in a crazy, confused world. Do you agree? A person says a seemingly innocent phrase. Someone else views the phrase as offensive and derogatory, even racist. Social media blows up. The person responsible apologizes profusely and retracts the statement. They are “cancelled” and labeled a pariah.
Physician
Jesus came to deal with our disease. He “bore our sins in his body on the tree . . . by his wounds [we] have been healed” (1 Peter 2:24). Jesus is the Great Physician.
Praying in the Battle
In the midst of your battle, cry out to God. Let him know that you are in a dangerous place.
I Trust You!
Can you trust Him . . . even standing in the whirlwind of your questions?
They Trusted in Him
Right now, in the midst of your battle, cry out to God. Let Him know that you are in desperate need of His help.
The Disease of Doubt
Doubting God is a disease that continues to infect the human heart. God provides sin’s sacrifice; we proclaim self-sufficiency. God provides forgiveness; we carry our sin. God promises never to leave us; we feel alone.
Satan, Sin, Disease, and Death
Just as poison at the beginning of a stream contaminates the entire stream, so sin at the beginning of the human race contaminates us all. “All have sinned,” and that sin separates us from God. Actually God did for us what we could not do for ourselves. He sent his Son to pay sin’s penalty by his death on the cross.
