Desires
Ecclesiastes: Wisdom and the Pleasures of Life
Paul writes that if God isn’t who he says he is, and this life is all there is, then by all means, “let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die” (1 Cor. 15:32). But Solomon found that hedonism was like chasing after the wind. The target of satisfaction was never hit because God is who he says he is, and this life is not all there is.
Road Rules: Lazy Desires
The sluggard has desires, but they are unwilling to put in the work to make them happen. They are too lazy to get the education, training, and experience to achieve what they want, so they look for shortcuts.
Road Rules: Making Plans
So, follow hard after God! Dream big dreams for him! Make big plans! God is more than capable of turning our desires in his direction.
Conceding Control
When I submit to the Spirit’s control instead of my own desires, I will always do what pleases God. That’s an amazing truth, isn’t it?
Conceding Control
If your thinking, emotions, and desires are set on what the Holy Spirit desires, you will live your life under his control.
The Holy One of Israel
He is holy — set apart from all things. Through Christ, God makes us holy.
The End of the Matter
Fear God, keep his commandments, and don’t forget that one day you will give an account before God.
Counterfeit Gods
As believers, we have to constantly check our hearts and make adjustments and changes in our lives to demonstrate that we follow God alone.
