Walking with God

[expand title="Devotion Text"]  Genesis 5:21-24 When Enoch had lived 65 years, he fathered Methuselah. Enoch walked with God after he fathered Methuselah 300 years and had other sons and daughters. Thus all the days of Enoch were 365 years. Enoch walked with God, and he was not, for God took him. Enoch’s story is short, but his Scriptural tombstone stands tall for all to see and emulate. Enoch walked with God! They were traveling companions heading in the same direction. Enoch was God’s friend and enjoyed his company. The prophet Amos asked the rhetorical question, “Do two walk together unless they have agreed to meet?” (Amos 3:3). Enoch agreed to meet with God and make the journey side by side. They enjoyed conversation and fellowship through the winding paths of life’s hills and valleys. Walking signifies something that is done habitually. Communion with God was not a hit and miss for Enoch. It was his daily routine. Then one day God seemed to say, “Enoch we’ve been together a long time and made such progress on our journey. Today let’s walk all the way home.” As Amos reminds us, we cannot walk and talk with God unless we agree to meet. I encourage you to find time each day to join me in these devotions. Let’s agree to meet with God and walk with him…all the way home. Talking Points:

• Thank God for his love for you and his desire to walk with you.
• Ask God to give you the desire to meet him daily and enjoy rich conversation and communion throughout the day. Ask the same for your children and grandchildren.
