Listen
ENGAGE: Listening to God
Good communication requires speaking and listening. Those same two things are required when we talk with God. Unfortunately, many of us do all the talking and tell God exactly how he should handle things. But…maybe…we should spend some time listening to him.
ENGAGE: Making the Time
Why don’t people spend more time talking with God? Why don’t I spend more time talking with God? We can all give our excuses, but at the end of the day, we must make time to speak and listen to our heavenly Father. Jesus made this his priority early in the morning.
Road Rules: Listen to Wisdom
In today’s passage, wisdom (personified) cries out in the noisy streets and reminds all who will listen that she is willing and ready to pour out her spirit to all who will listen and respond to her correction. But to those who reject her, terror will strike them “like a storm” and calamity will sweep over them “like a whirlwind” (Proverbs 1:27).
The Good Shepherd
Listen to the Good Shepherd’s voice. He knows you, loves you, and cares for you! He will always speak the words you need to hear, just when you need to hear them.
Prophet
Jesus is the Prophet. We are called to read his Word, listen to what he says, and do what he tells us to do.
Forgiven Sins
Remember it is better to be obedient on the front end than to deal with the consequence of sin - even forgiven sin – on the back end.
Be Still and Listen
God is not silent. He has not forgotten you. Be still and listen. Hear His whispers. Hear Him speaking. Hear Him shouting how much He loves you even in your pain. Hold on! Don’t give up! He’s coming to your rescue.
The Resurrected Lord
Are your emotions bouncing off the wall? Are all the sounds distracting you? Is the hurried pace isolating you from others? Are you visually exhausted? Close your eyes. Jesus is alive. The resurrected Lord is here. Listen to His voice.
